The chargers at our office just got beheaded for their copper. I am increasingly pessimistic on the idea of such mass-deployed public charging in general. Have you heard of solutions to deter copper theft?

Melrose MA has chargers mounted up on utility poles. You connect with an app and the connector lowers down to you. Serves multiple parking spaces, requires no trenching, and deters theft. Seems like legal fights are mainly keeping this tech from expanding.

Two immediate possibilities: • Bring-Your-Own-Cable • Retracting cables (this concept ... generally ... does this already)

It's already been mentioned, but as part of the J3400 standard (the Tesla connector) we should start to see power points be deployed which don't have cables at all. You'll be expected to carry one which will lock to both your car and the charger post. This is already the norm in Europe
