I’ve heard that’s one reason they’re reluctant to go digital… who wants to pay those prices just to stream something? I grabbed these LDs on my last trip to Japan. Less than ¥100 each!

There was 144 yen to the dollar on average in 1987 according to Google… so $4,500 in 1987 USD… or $12,400 in 2024 dollars. I don’t know if that’s the correct way to do it, either way, the 1980s Japanese boom economy was wild.

Yeah, I don’t know if they have to publicly disclose donations? You think she’d want to. Either way, it’s a shame to see the LCM shut down, selfishly because I live in the area and never made it there. I didn’t hear about it until after it had closed in 2020 😢

I’m not saying I agree with it, but Jody Allen managed much of his fortune and philanthropic work when Paul Allen was alive, so I don’t know what the motivation would be to do anything against his wishes. It’s not like she needs the money.

I believe Jody Allen is required to liquidate all assets as part of the will. Maybe the estate tried to find a buyer for the museum itself, but couldn’t find one that wanted to keep it open, so they’re selling the museums assets and property.

They don’t see a problem with their behavior. My wife uses it occasionally to keep in touch with a few specific neighbors but I had to nope-out after seeing post after post of people complaining about “suspicious” (aka not-white) people “snooping around” (aka walking on the street). Ridiculous.

I’m loving the Apple Watch gameboy emulator, ArcEmu. It controls surprisingly well (for the right games), solid emulation, auto-suspend, save states that sync with an emulator iPhone app. I’ll always have something capable of playing GBC/GBA strapped to my wrist! That’s rad! 🤓

I bought Smithereens, Especially For You, on impulse recently and I’m listening for the first time. Impression: Exceeding any expectations, what a fantastic debut album! It’s has mostly timeless sound, a mix of early Beatles ear worm pop with 80s alt rock. Catchy, great production, check it out!

Bioshock (tried multiple times on recommendations, didn’t like it). GTA 4 and 5 (I’d like to play them someday). Any CoD after CoD 1,2 and 4. Borderlands, Diablo, and Fallout series (tried them all and they’re not for me).

Thank you for saying this! “Generative AI,” is the most widely used term for today’s tech. It seems like many people get it mixed up with the concept of a theoretical “Artificial General Intelligence.” Is there a better term than “Generative AI?”people should be using??
