One of the #allblacks #rugby coaches looks a lot like a British TV actor, and it's bugging me because I can't think of his name! Does he ring a bell with anyone else?

He's the dark-haired guy sitting on our left.

Good for them! Honestly, making roads safer for vulnerable users should be piss-easy to support.

The democrats response to the rise of Trump and since then is the political equivalent of how NZ native birds response to predators is to freeze completely and hope they don't get eaten. This is obviously a sound survival strategy.

And Michael Keaton nutting off at the arrogant editor is *chef's kiss* brilliant, awesome and all of the superlatives. "I don't live in the f*ing world! I live in f*ing New York City!"

One of my cays tried to beat me inside once, not realising that the glass sliding door was closed. She was not amused at my laughter.

One thing worse: dreaming you can't get into your house because tall cutty-grass is pulling at your hair and clothes, and waking to find a weta is caught in your hair.

I'm glad you're finding your feet here (weta notwithstanding). I've heard that it's tough for incomers to get passed the surface friendliness of Kiwis to develop true friendships, so it's not a 'you' thing! I think it's a reluctance on our part to risk intruding. Keep at it - you'll get there. 🙂

Like a white speaker at an anti-immigration rally in Christchurch pre-Covid who spoke with a solidly blue-collar English accent. The lack of self-awareness was remarkable.

I remember Brian Edwards saying that someone defended Muldoon by pointing out he was diabetic, and what looked like drunkeness that night was actually a diabetic low. Brian replied: "Then he was as diabetic as a newt."

Had a very rough approach to Wellington one time - felt like we were being thrown around in the sky - and the tension on board broke when a young girl laughed out loud in delight. 😄

So many people see this and get a moment of amusement and surprise but never think more about it: This is all of ancient history and archaeology: All of the fatty nooks and crannies lost to the decay of time until we take what remains and reimagine it as a leaner, purpose-built, brutal existence.

I have a vague memory of 'most of the female profiles are fakes' but I didn't realise the ramifications - or that it was, essentially, fraud to keep stringing along the male subscribers.

In my part of the 'Zild, we didn't go in for fancy hose-washing. (Seriously, for kids it was just bare feet outside and in, no washing even thought of unless we'd stepped in animal poo somewhere along the way.)

I used to be on four nine-hour days, giving me three-day weekends. I'm back to 40 hours over five days and while I appreciate the extra $$$, I really miss those weekends - only two days away from work is rubbish.

I wonder about the conditions under which that range was tested, e.g. largely flat highways vs NZ's hilly terrain. But niggles aside, this is a very cool step forward.

The pendulum in Soper's brain is doing some hard work right now. "He's good!" "No he isn't" "But he's ours!" "He's still not good!" "He's the best we've got!" "He's got foot in mouth!" "He's learning!" etc.

What I really like is that he isn't 'both-sidesing' the topic. He's researched it, he knows what the issues are and he's highlighting the people who are responsible for making decisions about it. I hope the heat of the spotlight makes a few people sweat.

It's great to see Craig Ashworth keep on working on this story, rather than 'one and done'. He's putting the obvious questions to councillors who have a dairy background (like Cram) and making them justify their opinions (if they can).

This Government is getting pretty practised at doing one thing but saying it was something else entirely. It's not so much the outright doublespeak that gets me, but that the Govt doesn't care that they're being obvious about it and will continue to do it.

When I think of all the effort that crusading reporter Jim Tucker did back in the ... 60s? 70s? ... to clean up our *frothing* waterways (which led to new environmental legislation) and now how we're not doing enough for the current generation, I get really annoyed.
