So I wiped my Facebook and Instagram pages of pics of my artwork. Meta was forced, by law, to inform its users in Europe (not here, natch) that it was going to scrape all accounts to train its AI, and had the right to do w/ those images as it pleased. So I'm out. Another one down the shitter.

Not sure how I promote books now. Bluesky is great, but the response is a lot less. I dunno, maybe it was all bots on the other places anyways. Maybe I don't promote them, not like I used to. Maybe social media is finished. for us. Looks that way. Seems like AI is going to scorch the earth here.

I had to scroll back through 11 years of FB posts. They don't make it easy to delete either. Obviously, FB doesn't want to. FB was useful for comics, so please don't give me a "who cares?" We all used FB and Insta. I got more engagement there than on Xitter. Sold a lot of books, too.

It's not like I didn't detest FB and Insta. The stench of both was getting intolerable. I'll be wandering over to Cara soon. Seems like everyone's landing there.

This might be the only reason I started doing reels of drawing or process videos. It’s still loose and not something someone using AI would be interested in. But, I should also start the scraping process.

FB is a trash fire, but it's still how I get in touch with a lot of creators (especially older ones, which is pretty much my beat). Used to be that creators had personal web pages or blogs, but that's long gone. Then everyone went on FB. These things are leaving but nothing's replacing them.
