I think it would be helpful if he had a thorough exam from a team of highly qualified doctors and released the results, with all of them signing off. That would certainly get me off the ledge. Can't speak for anyone else but I don't think I'm the only worried about that.

If he's got a disease like Parkinson's it could progress pretty quickly. His SOTU in January was good, the debate 6 months later was bad. For someone his age it's possible a primary challenge was foolish a year ago but maybe he's gone downhill fast enough that it's worth looking to replace him now.

Arrogance comes to mind mostly. He knew in 2020 how old he'd be now, he could've not run for a second term and allowed a proper primary. "The graveyards are filled with indispensable men." - DeGaulle. Also: not the same heat on him as RBG for similar reasoning, hard not to see sexism in that.
