I got a poetry rejection this morning, felt a little sad, submitted somewhere else. Got an acceptance within hours! I guess it's just really true that you have to take rejections in stride and move onto the next thing.

A lot of folks have been saying it way before the debate! I seem to see a lot of people ignore all the folks who voted 'uncommitted' in the primaries (tens of thousands of voters in tons of states) and have been calling for him to step down for some time.

really shook by this NPR quote: "...the waves of violence that plagued Russia through the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Islamist militants from the North Caucasus region routinely terrorized civilians." Completely ignoring the culpability of the Russian government in the brutal wars.

people often say this, but a boycott doesn't need 100% buy-in to work. it just needs people who have other options to be committed. I think on our side we often say "well, some people don't have the option" as a way of deferring a look at our own responsibility.
