I'll go a little further and say that all categories are really just part of various continua (and highly contextual at that)--once you get close to boundaries, those boundaries melt away and trying hard to carve them into permanence is a huge waste of energy.

It costs Palestinians 5-10,000 USD to evacuate across the border to Egypt. You can provide material support to Gaza by helping fund evacuations for families fleeing the genocide.

I wish more people realized this and did not buy into the marketing hype cycle. Android's refusal to provide security updates to older devices incentivizes a device upgrade. And the microfinancing behind upgrades at stores makes it easy to acquire even for people who can't afford it.

RE: 🍎, are you aware of the 2017 class settlement, in which 🍎 admits to deliberately slowing down IoS speeds when battery degradation was detected on the device w/o notifying the user? (incentivizing device upgrade) Consumer rights groups in Belgium (Test Achats) & Spain (OSU) have also filed suits.

That's great! So many people don't realize how they can wield their consumer power. The horror in the DRC right now is directly linked to tech supply chains. Their profit strategy hinges on constant upgrading. There is no engineering limitation for durability. This is a choice. We can slow it down.

#Dystopian fiction often makes revolution look easy...in so many fictional contexts, a Big Bad Order can be brought to its knees by a motley young crew, and then the work is done....SORDIDEZ... is not such a story."

It’s been a while. I may have been obsessively playing a video game. But never mind! Triple feature of 31, 32 and 33, courtesy of being on holiday.

"You are my Sunshine" sings all the notes of clifi, from the horrifying to the hopeful. Its titular novelette is a bone-chilling plunge into the terrifying depths of our climate reality. @octavia-cade.bsky.social weaves a spell of sobering disquiet in this magnificent collection 🌻✴️📙🐟 #scifi #sff
