Assistant professor, biking and walking advocate, community radio DJ, bird feeder attendant. Savannah, Georgia. (he/him)
One of my most annoying qualities is my compulsion to point out inaccurate depictions of #radio stations in movies and TV shows. I just watched the "Long Time Listener, First Time Bob" episode of Bob's Burgers, and I'm delighted by the faithful rendering of the Electro-Voice RE20 microphone.

I was a Schwalbe loyalist and insisted on them for my Xtracycle. I've been running Specialized Sawtooth, which I like a lot, on my Cross-Check. These may lure me back.

To be clear, I support the spread of HawkFever™ in my neighborhood. Anything that gets people interested in birds is OK with me, but Mississippi kites have a special place in my heart. They helped me get through the pandemic, which I wrote about here: 🪶

Taking a break from grading to visit my neighborhood Facebook page. A man posted a photo of a Mississippi kite and misidentified it as a fledgling hawk. Now, others are posting their photos of the "hawk." People pointing out that none of these are the same birds are, of course, being ignored.

Heard this on WFMU recently and it reminded me how much I love this track. As far as I know it's the only record they ever made (At least as Nairobi Sisters). Especially dig the version on the flip.

President Biden is being urged by a Gullah Geechee organization in Georgia to issue an executive order for title to 500 acres of land — land that the government took from Black families amid World War II to build a (now long-gone) military airbase.
