Some context re this article for non-Texans. Our SCOTX is all GOP. But all the major courts of appeals (divided regionally) are majority or all Dem (both elected). Creating a state-wide COA appointed by the GOP governor with a special docket is a way of avoiding those election Dem COAs

Judges rule that there is no constitutional right to be able to sleep in prison?? As an insomniac, I get nervous every time another study comes out indicating lack of sleep is deadly in a variety of ways. I hope this guy wins in the end and lives to tell about it.
