Some comics fans' anger at Jim Lee's commission prices and many comics fans severely overrating Alex Ross's work come from the same place: a belief that traditional comic book art - especially superhero art - isn't "real" art, and is meaningfully inferior to "real" art.

RIP to the #Krakoa Era, the most interesting the X-books have been in decades..... you deserved *so* much better than what #Marvel editorial did to you towards the end. I doubt we'll see anything nearly that interesting or not-status quo for the mutants ever again.

Well, Rise of the Powers of X #5 was, I would say, as good as possible given the utterly dismissive clusterfuck that #Marvel has made of Fall of X...I shudder to think how much worse it could've been if they didn't have one of the best writers out there in Kieron Gillen to do his thing.

It shouldn't be at all surprising to me at this point, but I continue to be impressed at how astonishingly, consistently excellent Al Ewing's #comics are. There are a lot of incredibly good writers out there, but he's in a league of his own at this point, as far as I'm concerned.

Glad there are multiple good creators also involved in the #xmen relaunch, because literally everything Tom Brevoort has said about it so far tells me he was a terrible choice to lead the x-line, *especially* coming out of the Krakoa era.

Finally found the last numbered issue I needed for my full New Mutants 1-86 + annuals & specials run... Huzzah! Just need to bite the bullet and shell out the money for Annual #2 and it's complete. All but 10-15 issues from dollar boxes as well!

I'll admit to being predisposed to dislike #Xmen97, but I'm truly baffled by the decision to have it be just as ugly and cheap-looking animation-wise as the original was.. whether it's a deliberate aesthetic choice (which if so, WHY??) or just incredible cheapness on Disney's part, it's just bad.

I'm hopeful that the post-Krakoa X books won't just go running back to the status quo as quickly as they can, but the Original X-Men one-shot from last week definitely put a large dent in that hope. I know it's just one book, but *not* a good sign as far as I'm concerned.

I think baseball still has football/soccer beat for depth of analytics, but the number of pro soccer leagues & players worldwide absolutely dwarfs baseball, so they ultimately have *way* more raw data to work with.

Oh, I've played that series for years, and I'm a huge fan. OOTP is deeply nerdy in its breadth and depth, but nothing can touch FM in that regard - the sheer amount of data that's available to incorporate is staggering, as you would expect for the most popular sport worldwide.

I think that's a big part of it.. Japanese MMA very explicitly grew out of pro wrestling, where in the US the strongest connection has always been more to boxing and other combat sports.
