New post on Starmer’s foreign policy challenges, noting that Uk will be one of the more stable governments in the West but this is of no great benefit when anything they want to do, including improving relations with EU, requires working with others (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/p...

I think they're doing them all and then will announce them in a big block rather than individually. But I might be wrong.

Post looks at the result itself, and how close the Tories were to complete destruction (that bit is free to read). And then the challengs that the new electoral map, and composition of the Commons, will create for the government, and a much weakened Conservative party.

Not on notional results. They're based on the 2019 numbers not by-elections.

Someone's ability to be a good MP is largely unrelated to whether they came from the seat they are standing in.

That's previews for all British seats completed. Later this afternoon I'll do a single post with all 650 seats, including the 18 in Northern Ireland. Then this evening they'll be a "what to look out for tomorrow night" post.

I also look at the more general question of what adjustments might be needed to Parliament's ways of working if the Tories really do fall in double digit seat numbers.

Plus how does the opposition gets selected if the Tories + LDs have similar seat numbers?

If you're in a winnable seat and you can't be arsed to make a functioning website (or get someone else to) then you're not going to be successful.

I reckon you could predict with 80-90% accuracy which of the new Labour intake will be ministers in five years based purely on the quality of their websites.
