my website needs to be a bit of a workhorse so it's kind of expensive, which sucks (not crazy but definitely not nothing). I totally get not wanting/being able to pay for it, but there are free/inexpensive options out there! the trick is getting eyeballs on it, which is very very hard.

big same. there were SO many reasons not to have a site and rely on social media only, and if you are in your early/mid-twenties this is probably your first experience with a big internet ecosystem collapse like that. meta/twit made solely relying on your own websites nonviable anyway, by design.

I'm glad I've had one the whole time (selling prints mostly, thank goodness I hated etsy from the get-go) because it made the switch from frequent small posts on socials to a few big posts on my own blog/newsletter very easy. reach is GARBAGE but honestly not a whole lot different from IG anyway lol

This print is my response to seeing invasive dog-strangling vine (European swallowwort, Vincetoxicum rossicum) popping up all over my neighbourhood. 🐡🧪 Not only do these plants create dense stands that outcompete native plants but they threaten the monarch butterfly which depends on milkweed 🦋🧵1/

i sweat a ton (used to be more, also due to meds) and i have a tendency toward low blood pressure (not recently but when i was in good shape i would see stars every time i stood up) so on hot sunny days drinking water just gives me a woozy headache. i probably do need a salt lick handy somewhere.

fun fact the first 3 months of pregnancy i had to have one in my mouth at ALL TIMES lest i ralph everywhere. even when i was sleeping. i CANNOT BELIEVE i didn’t get a cavity i went through bags and bags of them.

i think there’s a part of me that feels like it’s actually healthy for the ecosystem to shake things up a bit. make everyone start “from scratch” again (it’s never “from scratch” when you have an existing following but a shakeup makes it easier to squirm in when you don’t)

where i’m at in my career (aka not on top of the world/socials lol sorry friends who were) i genuinely kind of don’t mind the occasional levelling of the playing field. it has been SO vindicating, confirming that it had nothing to do with quality of my work, it was the algorithm working against me.
