last year we installed a patio which meant digging up half our yard to make room for the patio stones, but we didn’t finish until like.. august so now i’m trying to break up and move this giant pile of dirt and gravel and it’s SLOW GOIN. gotten maybe 6-8 wheelbarrowfuls in an hour?

i (5’2”) used to have a roommate who was 6’2” and for a while i couldn’t find my casserole dish. turns out she thought it was hers and she’d stored it on top of the cupboards where she keeps the rest of her stuff she doesn’t use often and i was like “there’s been stuff up there this WHOLE TIME??”

this is far from a new sentiment, but i think the way we consume art now really hinders our appreciation of it and it’s such a shame sometimes. your choices and improvements become obvious with a bit of inspection but i get why people would prefer the high-contrast one on a quick scroll by.

If it makes you feel better, I actually do prefer the new one! The lines and colours feel significantly more deliberate and cohesive. That sucks when that happens though, I'm sorry. My artist brain definitely knows what's what, but it can be hard to reconcile craftsperson eyes with layperson eyes.

recipes for clam frappe were all over the newspapers at the turn of the 20th century, then popped up starting about 1913 and again in the 30s to clarify: you're freezing the broth to a mush like a granita, NOT the clams themselves it was billed as an invalid food or just a nice start to luncheon!
