I’m wondering: can anyone think of other books like Carolyn Steedman’s Master and Servant, in which novels are used to shed light on an aspect of history on which we lack primary sources, and that consider the relationship between literature and history?

3 years ago, on May the 4th, I was starting my position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Romantic Ridiculous with @drbeard79, which was the most fun I’ve ever had at working on anything, and now I’m reading the proofs for our book 😊

Thank you so much to the Jane Austen Society for what is (as far as I know) the first review of my book, Women and Property Ownership in Jane Austen 😊 It would mean the world to me if you could ask your library to order it:

Yeeey, fellow BTS fan!! I totally get it, I usually listen to instrumental only when writing, but recently listening to Taylor Swift while writing an article on Taylor Swift worked very well 😄

Call for speakers! I’m organising an online series of talks, “Women, Property and Economics,” which will bring together early career and established academics, and heritage professionals, working on this topic across 18th and 19th century studies.

Hi, I’m Rita, I work on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century studies, particularly on women, property and economics 🙂 My first book was on Jane Austen, and lately some of my research has also been on popular culture.
