Managing Editor of Mason Jar Press. Tokyo Drift is my favorite Fast and the Furious movie & I'm not sorry.

Ohhh yeah. I used to watch my roomie play the original animal crossing. Weirdly relaxing. Hated playing it with a passion. I’m with you.

Chatted with some coworkers about video games you don’t like playing but actively enjoy watching others play (in person). For me, it’s The Legend of Zelda. I’ll watch folks play that for hours.

The worst thing about hitting middle age is that all my least favorite songs and bands are now in heavy rotation on classic rock channels.

Blargh! Gonna get a tooth extracted and some implants implanted…in a week. Until then, pain exists in the dojo.

15 years ago I got bridgework done. The dentist said it would last for a decade. It broke yesterday and I’m on the way for a painful time.
Positives: the last one went five years longer than it was supposed to and I have dental insurance
Negatives: this is going to suuuck

Hard to explain, but i feel like I’m surrounded by lovely, wonderful humans who all speak a different dialect of English than I do, and also there was a staff meeting and memo I missed. 24/7/365

Geek Girl. Which is about a 16 year old british ginger girl who becomes a model. I don't care about modeling and I'm absolutely not any of those specific demographics, but there's parts of that show that rang so close to my experience.

That feeling when you watch a show very clearly intended for an entirely different audience than you embody, but you become enraptured because you identify so closely with the protagonist it hurts.

That’s my take on them as well. I also find the Juggalos absolutely fascinating. And they seem like a really positive group of people.

I'd argue that that's not inconsequential. Like, that's legitimately important shit.

What inconsequential question do you ask folks when you're lowkey trying to test if you can truly love & trust them?
Me, I ask their favorite Fast and the Furious movie, their opinion of ICP, or maybe their favorite fast food spot. The answer doesn't matter: it's how they judge the question.

Mine is 6 and if I’m not around he has nearly unfettered access. I don’t like to ban, nor do I like to throw my weight around (particularly with the wife) but I did on this one. No regrets.

Looking for some musical recommendations. Something new (last ten years) would be great. I'm not partial to death metal, pop-country, or anything resembling Soundgarden. Also not super into The Cranberries & Rush. Otherwise, I'm pretty open.

Asked my parents their favorite Swayze movie.
Mom: I love Dirty Dancing…what else was Swayze been in that I’ve seen?
Dad: Maybe Ghost?
Mom: oh I didn’t like that very much.
Dad: I also love Dirty Dancing. Road House is probably my second favorite. A really weird movie.

Wife has inexplicably agreed to watch a Predator movie and, if she likes it, she will watch more. However I am stumped on whether or not to start with the original or the prequel, Prey. If it misses, there will be no Predator 2 or, more importantly, Predators.

Last night I smoked some pot on my back porch & felt a twinge of illicit-drug guilt. Then I remembered my sleep-aid motivation & that it was the year '24, put the joint out, went inside, and slept for 10 hours.

Honestly, Chris Cornell is why I loathe it. He seemed like a nice man--and yes, total a snack--but his voice activates a part of my brain that is pure rage and disgust. I HATE his voice so much. And that song is all of his singing tics that drive me batty.
I admit this is likely a Me problem.

I went to the funeral for a friend’s father today (for moral support for her; I didn’t really know her dad) and the lesson was this: live your life so that your auto mechanic shows up at your funeral and tells a story about what a great guy you were.

Staying at my dead aunt’s house for a week while COVID ran its course was intense. But every so often someone would call the landline and I’d hear her voice on the answering machine and i’d be like, “hey Aunt Bonnie. I hear you. I know you’re not here at the moment, but I am. Love you & miss you.”

It’s been only recently that I realized this was happening when I asked people questions. Not saying I’m on the autism spectrum, but I am saying that I’ve been absolutely puzzled for years and years and years by this and learning the why has been VERY helpful in my day to day life.

I keep thinking about this video where an autistic woman explained that neurotypical people ask questions with the aim of eliciting shame (what a fool you are for not knowing that), whereas autistic people ask questions because they are interested in the answers.
