The EU has adopted a ‘business as usual’ approach to Israel as it perpetrates a genocide in Gaza.

Ahead of the parliamentary elections, our new research argues that by providing political cover and material support to Israel, the EU is complicit in genocide. www.tni.org/en/publicati...

Ending fossil fuel use and delivering equitable access to energy requires a dual strategy: confronting fossil-fuel capital and rapidly scaling up public renewables.

The campaign for public renewables in New York can be an inspiration.

Putting the cost of the energy transition on individuals has failed.

Relying on the private sector has failed.

We need alternatives based on investment in publicly owned, democratically operated energy production and supply is the way out. www.tni.org/en/article/s...

In the proposed energy transition the global South supplies raw materials to the global North, at the cost of ravaging territories and violating the rights of people and communities.

Community-based energy systems have proven to be a valuable alternative. www.tni.org/en/article/e...

Colombia is one of the few oil-producing countries in the world to commit to phasing out its use. Its commitments go further than most rich industrialised nations. Thus the lessons it has are critical for all of us.

It is estimated that 95 per cent of renewables in 2050 will be privately owned.

The private-sector model is concentrating corporate power, undermining decarbonisation and dispossessing people of land and power.

We need social ownership of energy. www.tni.org/en/article/d...

The unprecedented energy crisis in Lebanon prompted an explosion in small-scale solar energy systems and has been heralded as an example of decentralised energy revolution.

But a closer look shows it also widened inequality and divided communities.

Whatever the result of the proceedings, this is truly a historic moment where the international “rule-based order” has been compelled to reckon with the realities of apartheid and settler colonialism. South Africa honored the Palestinian plight and the world was forced to listen.

More than 23,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7th. Around 70% of them are women and children. 85% of the population is forcibly displaced and Israel is still herding them into ever smaller areas, without adequate shelter, in which they continue to be attacked.

South Africa's submission to the ICJ is a very important document and provides a strong and solid case of genocide put rightly in its broader context of ongoing Nakba, settler colonialism, apartheid, occupation and an inhumane siege.

The vision of the future pushed by corporations, governments and ruling classes encourages further privatisation of water, land, resources and energy.

As these actors meet in the next #COP28, in Dubai, a call for a different approach is needed.
