I sincerely believe that mankind will only survive if we develop a global perspective and abandon all forms of nationalism. If the centuries-long struggle between nations and peoples does not end and we do not treat each other as equals, climate change and wars will ultimately destroy us.

Exactly. Nationalism limits people's field of vision to their own country, sows division between natives and foreigners, glorifies the national past and refuses to address global problems. What we need are people who look at what we have in common and not focus on our differences.

Interesting analysis which shows Labour’s vote is far from as fragile as some have suggested. There’s evidence the certainty of the Labour victory meant would-be Labour voters didn't turn out as forecast, or went elsewhere. Bodes well.

I agree with astrophysicist Avi Loeb: "Given the ubiquity of habitable planets, it is the height of arrogance to conclude that we are unique. It is, I believe, the hubris of a young age." This hubris could explain the cowardice and extreme conservatism in the debates about "Extraterrestrial".
