A lot of media-blaming, unfairness type stuff flying around, oh the dem base needs to be more unified. But it misses the point. Biden needed to do well, but he did awful. Having done awful, their plan is to ride it out like any other scandal. Exactly what's driven me nuts about the last 4 years.

I'm not claiming to know. But I'm not confident in our boy. Biden has gotten slagged in the media like this before and his strategy has been to ride it out. I'm not sure this goes away, it's the main narrative!

The debate WAS that opportunity to break through the media bubble and show everyone, in a live, televised environment, that he was still sharp. Dispel the age narrative. Unfortunately, that opportunity went terribly. Now he's back behind the media curtain, same as May, where reality doesn't matter.

For Biden specifically I think he struggles to campaign because of his style, his shortcomings, and now age. He has governed adequately but worse as time goes on. Not from age but closely held beliefs that come from being born in his era. I don't think he's mush, but he's certainly not adapting.

It's a false dichotomy - governing takes a lot of administrative competency, but also to govern is to campaign. You have to do both. No deist clockmaker version of executive policymaking, where you set out perfect rules making perfect ripples in society that pay back positively. Use the megaphone.

I think it's more that dems should take a more hardline position. They let a lot of things go, they make a lot of mistakes, they're unprepared or uninterested in providing accountability. So get better dems, or simply that the ones we have should do better.

I'll try. I think it's that, despite voting in every election since coming of age, democracy gets chipped away year after year. In fact, the very people telling us to just vote are the ones failing to defend it. Dick Durbin comes to mind.

Gotta say the wifi-enabled openers are a game changer. You can set them to close every day at certain times in case you forget. I set them up during the 2020 uprising because I wanted to be able to tell if the garage was closed while I was out of town 🤗

A year ago maybe my enthusiasm would have been stronger. His failures to stand up to Netanyahu really lower his standing - but worse, the illogic behind the whole Gaza campaign reveals the whole admin is something rotten and tanks his credibility. A flaw that reveals the whole package is bad.
