Would the Carolinas and Virginias be merged too? ("Why are there *two* Carolinas?" "Reasons?" "Not anymore... you're one big Carolina now. Deal with it.") Would the "extraneous" states/territories (everything not part of the Lower 48 states) also be ditched, and in a hamfisted way?

West Virginia is legally questionable as we never agreed to a part of the Commonwealth being used to create another state, but you know what, we don't want it back.
