/8 At any rate, congratulations to the Federalist Society for an achievement beyond the reach of the British, outside the grasp of bloody civil war, impossible to Nazis and Soviets and terrorists: defeating the American idea.

He can't be criminally prosecuted for violating an injunction either so the court can rule what it wants its not like there will be any consequences for ignoring them.

The president couldn't be criminally accountable if he orders the military to implement the ending of fight club and erase all debt

First they need to consult every democratic lawyer who thinks they might one say sit on the supreme court if the administration should attack the legitimacy of the court or try to make a measured statement

That the king could use the instruments of the state to agrandize himself and his house at the expense of the nation was something that was rejected in the English civil war and glorious revolution. This is anti American as anything else ever said.

I think the government should pay the judgments and then be obligated to hound the official responsible and size all their assets until that payment is repaid to the government with interest.

People love parasocial relationships and if they can't have one with an elected leader they will demand one with a authoritarian leader with the help of the machinery of the state to maintain one.

Biden won the primary (and the election) in 2020 because he was the least common denominator of the democratic party. No one but a small core of people that have had personal interaction with Biden love him. We all agree his policies will be good if we (the party at large) get our shit together.

Seeing people I loathe do the right thing at key times gave me hope that at least 2 conservatives on the court would have had the decency to do the right thing this time. Just unimaginably bleak

Yes and after Hilary Clinton and Joe Biden (who was better but not by a lot) the candidate choices about who runs their political and cons ops ...is very instructive about how competent they are at running a successful campaign

I supported her in 2020. People really didn't take to her in 2020 and there has been a lot of negative press on her since. Yes she has probably gotten better and is in the best position to be the next one now or 2024...but not by a lot

The thing about the DC universe is that the heros are always so superior to everyone including the bad guys that what makes them heros is how they use (or not) their superiority (choices) not that they overcome the odds to win. So makes sense to me.

Especially when to get to 30% they got the bulk of their support from people that were not regular democratic voters. What did they think the 70% of democrats were going to do - split their votes and lose control of the party like the GOP with Trump. We are not complete idiots

Luthor is insane and obsessed with the idea that Superman is actually evil and must be defeated because then Luthor is the true hero of earth...so yeah Bruce is smarter for recognizing reality and not being insane

There might be 2 lots for that on today's SCOTUS...but not more than that... even if it's just for political reasons. The AARP would mobilize an army that would make Jan 6 look like a peaceful protest.
No way Trump would support that

At least I have made moral peace that if our foreign policy morally indefensible no matter what, I still have the ability to push towards a morally defensible domestic policy over also have the same level of atrocity at home. It's selfish but I will only be disappointed not heartbroken

My view is that any candidate especially a Democrat that wants to do the right thing on this issue will need to lie their way into office while having a lot of blood on their hands, and will leave it for the 2nd terms. That's my slim hope.

Yes and if we have a Thomas court Trump president and MAGA congress we can lose so much that we could never rebuild in our lifetime....but that's not inevitable. The Thomas court could also end relatively soon in the right circumstances. We should act like that's possible.

We will never get to utopia, democracy will always be vulnerable to fascists. The work of striving for utopia and trying to get close while protecting democracy is all that there is ...and we must imagine sisyphus happy in his work even if meaningless
