Being a teenager when this came out made it one of the most exciting albums I've ever listened too. I had this, Tougher than Leather by Run DMC and Knowledge is King by Kool Moe Dee rotating in my cheap walkman biking to high school.
Don't bike while wearing headphones, kids. (But it's super fun)
I get the argument against regulation of this sort. But it would be better received if it came with a solution (or a suggested one) to the flood of pornography on the internet and children's access to it, which is an actual problem. Every reply is just "better parents!!!". But that's unrealistic.
What I find super interesting is that Supreme Court justices watch the news. They've seen Trump idolizing Putin. They know this is one step closer to Trump being Putin. And yet, that's either willfully ignored or compartmentalized because they don't give one shit about America... or the law.
"Our results show that even the best-performing LLM, GPT-4o, which has otherwise shown impressive reasoning abilities on a wide variety of benchmarks, can only fully solve 8% of the games."
...impressive reasoning on a wide variety of benchmarks...
Great. Well enjoying the apocalypse you're apparently looking forward to. Compromise with the right is what got us here. Hope it isn't too hot where you are... it's only going to get hotter if people like you keep compromising with Trump.
You're part of the problem.
Toodles
If it's a necessary precondition then how do they avoid doing it so often?
Again, look a thing up.
Things aren't true because you say them... just so you can reinforce your own bullshit liberal centrism.
"She is a congressional representative. Making compromises to pass legislation is literally what her job is."
That is absolutely NOT what her job is. Her job literally has the word "representative" in it (and doesn't have "compromiser" in it). Her job is to represent her constituents.
Sure.
It's just that there are millions of art people out there (curators, dealers, just people...etc.) who think they DO know what is art and what isn't. But according to you they should not claim to know that since they don't know what the artist intended because the artist is dead.
A consequence of that would be that we can't know if anything made by anyone now dead is art since we can't know their intent... unless they wrote it down.
Almost every single artwork since the beginning of art is now only maybe-art... from an epistemic standpoint.
Seems a bit absurd.
Right. I get that. That's terrible. But you also seemed to be saying age verification + anonymity is impossible and I've been having this talk about this with a few people because of a new bill in Canada and it does seem possible... just imperfect.
That people who play stick ball make 10s of millions does nothing to make life any less bleak.
Doubly bleak with the increase in gambling addiction.
Yay
I'm a bit confused by this. If we passed laws to make it illegal to keep credit card info for these sites and we made sites use credit cards for age verification in what sense couldn't that be anonymous?
This is the better solution... art shouldn't be a commodity. No one should want/have to sell art and no one should be interested in buying it. We've been doing art very wrong for a very long time.

This is a direct response to protestors wearing masks. They want to make wearing PPE illegal to so that itβs easier to surveil people. This isnβt about safety β itβs about surveillance.
Well... Some media outlets are falling for it, others are intentionally helping them and thereby giving them credibility.
We're going to have to create some way to deal with this. We may need news outlets to call out others on the lies... for the CBC to report that, say, the NP is just wrong.
"....because βmany people feel discouragedβ to like βedgyβ content."
So create a ton of "egdy"/neo-Nazi accounts, let the idiots like them under the assumed anonymity through solidarity and then publicly reveal who the likes are since the account holder can still see them...?
Fantastic album. Oddly, I still get a harmful content warning any time I try to play that album in YouTube music. It says there is content about suicide/self harm. True, but I can find and play 10 songs titled "kill yourself" with no problem at all.
