Alito's worldview is one of a radical: we are in a war, where one side must defeat the other. Needless to say, this is a terrible mindset to bring to the interpretation of complex laws to govern all people, including those who disagree with you.
I wonder sometimes how much the framing of: "both sides are valid, whoever wins the argument is correct", and treating politics as a sports-analogue (e.g. "teams" "sides" "wins" "losses") has harmed things.
It’s the result a few decades of non-stop right-wing propaganda. We’re a stupid country for allowing deliberate lies and misinformation to brainwash half of the population.
Also it’s the worldview of a man who knows his beliefs are so terrible they must be forced on everyone whether by fear of God or fear of the state/bullet.
American ethnonationalists learned well from the Civil War that you're much better off overthrowing the government from within rather than trying to defeat it from without.
