a probably unpopular opinion is that the escalating culture of leveraging bullying and victim-blaming to coerce people into voting for democrats has actually been an acceleration mechanism for fascist creep, and bears significant blame for where we are today.

Yeah, as soon as he admitted to the age gap (and propositioning an employee!) I was done. Even if he managed to squeak past illegal (he's gonna lose that civil suit if NZ law is like US law, tho), he's transparently a predator. Done, dusted, no further conversation required.

Yep, and his hard-right economic ideology meant that there wasn't a new social contract they could buy into. The social contract was destroyed on every level. Obama also broke libs' brains by training them to want failure. The median lib in the US is ruled by their learned helplessness.

These are just meat noises to justify abuse enabling. The "paradox" of tolerance goes away once you understand that tolerance is a reciprocal discipline. "Tolerance" without reciprocity is just abuse.
