and then you have the green party who is astonishingly good at coming in second place the main problem with green parties is they represent a tenuous coalition between dyed-in-the-wool hippies and business-friendly "bright green" interests and so are seen as too socialist and not socialist enough

the one time the ndp (~labour party) did especially well it was because there were tandem crises in both the liberal and bloc québécois parties (the latter being another trade-unionist party with separatist characteristics)

it is interesting to me how in the uk the main rivalry is between tory and labour while in canada it's between liberal and tory, and our labour party (ndp) has only ever gotten as far as second place, and only once

the annotations take surprisingly long because you basically have to rewatch the video and pause it a whole bunch, so some multiple (2-3x) of the runtime, and the callouts and chapters are in separate places in the uploader ui so you have to make two passes (although one can usually be partial)

the title card depends on a still taken from prerecorded stock footage in front of a green screen (if i don't have stock footage of me wearing the same shirt then i have to record that too, like i did today), and in photoshop i could bang it out in 5 minutes but i have GIMP so it took probably 20

that involves shooting the video (preferably in one take), editing it down (mainly removing filler words), uploading it (youtube takes up to 40 minutes to transcode it), writing the description, doing the title card, doing the annotations

like the purpose of the morning warmup series is to articulate in a relaxed way whatever's on my mind that morning while i finish my coffee. it's supposed to be minimal effort and my time budget from end to end is no more than one hour. modulo some special exception it isn't worth doing otherwise
