NEW POST: On the documentary Next Goal Wins (which the recent feature film was based on), its depiction of American Samoa's efforts to reach the World Cup, and of broader American Samoan society in a global context. All reposts much appreciated.

The director of 1996βs βA Time to Gather Stones Togetherβ, a hugely unsuccessful quarry-set legal drama starring Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McConaughey, says with hindsight heβd have chosen a different line from Ecclesiastes as the concept to base his film around.

Does anyone know of any resources/support networks etc directed at people who have had periods out of academia post-ECR stage, including due to redundancy, and are again applying for work in the sector? Particularly in a UK context. #skystorians ποΈ #polisky

It was the fact we were both being properly deadpan and Romeo still figured out what we were up to and lectured us about it that was particularly surprising.

Me and the 9yo were scolded this morning by the 4yo for teasing the 6yo*. A somewhat surreal βWho is the adult here again?β moment.
*Pretending Taylor Swift had not just made a song called Fortnight, but also ones titled Minecraft and Roblox.

Just got a notification that this piece I wrote with @drdiongeorgiou.bsky.social was lambasted on some unhinged website that froths about 'gender ideology'. Glad you hated it, pricks!!!
Anyway, here is our (pretty damn good) piece:

Pretty sure it must have been released on video? Iβve never seen it but think I remember it was always advertised on other Disney videos when I was kid. There was certainly a clip of James Baskett singing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah on the trailers.
