New personal rule: As soon as a book has a villain who is a Big Fat Fatty, you can just TELL they're EVIL because they're FAT, because being fat = bad person and being skinny = Morally Righteous, it'll become a Did Not Finish. :) Hit too many of them in too short a time and I'm done! 🥰

2/2 Out There Screaming is an anthology of Black horror edited by Jordan Peele, and Nnedi Okorafor has a very culturally-steeped story in it called "Dark Home." I'd recommend the anthology as a whole, but that one fits the criteria.

There's so much damn good Nigerian fiction. I spent the weekend finishing Shadow Speaker by Nnedi Okorafor, and I'm going through Frances Ogamba's stories in The Dark magazine. (Ogamba is local to me! Even cooler!) I love the speech style. I love learning about a culture, even through SFFH.
