Glad Austin is so far inland, but it's gonna be fucking wild going from nearly 100F every day and bone dry to tropical storm winds and enough rain for flooding. July tropical storm conditions in Austin were NOT on my bingo card!

Finishing and submitting a story = you're in the game = you rock. Rejections are a measure of that last. That means, getting a rejection = you rock. So when you're feeling down, remember YOU ROCK! and write another story. When you get a reject, remember YOU ROCK! and write another story. And so on.

I just finished this novella (Unexploded Remnants by @theelaineg.bsky.social) about a space archaeologist who finds an ancient superweapon and it was so much fun! The worldbuilding reminded me a lot of Becky Chambers. I'd love to real a big doorstop set in this universe.

Parts of the Biden administration’s healthcare nondiscrimination rule went into effect today, but three federal judges — all GOP appointees — issued injunctions against aspects of it, including a Mississippi judge who issued a nationwide injunction blocking the rule’s gender identity protections.
