I’m so sick of this defeatist attitude. The Court can be swung easily in the next 5 years with natural attrition and the near certainly that at least one of the conservatives moves toward the center. It all comes down to who is nominating the replacement justices.

Thanks for remembering. We may not see it as dramatic as Souter but I think Kavanaugh and Barrett might actually drift in the direction of Kennedy over time. It’s probably the same effect as Ginsberg’s pendulum.

5 years is a little optimistic*. But it doesn't have to be forever. *which is why increaing the number of justices on the supreme court is an important aim
