implementing global controls on what energy usage is allowed, decided by a central committee, is actually much, much harder and has far more fraught outcomes then simply buying the cheap solar panels and tiling them in the desert

framing the issue as zero sum and the only solution as reducing energy usage actually prevents addressing the crisis (CCL for example requires large energy input). there’s a reason that petrochemical heirs (the Gettys, for example) fund NGOs to support this approach
