I don't even think it's that bad for a hero to have hang ups about killing the villain. I just think it's a little silly that the hero usually elects to take this one moral high ground, while standing atop a hill of lesser villains and mooks who were somehow totally fine to kill.

Yeah, me too. I prefer nonkilling heroes but I'm not for the ones that kill the henchmen en masse but only go nonkill on bosses. Interestingly, Superman is the opposite of that, constantly saving every henchman, petty criminal and human boss and reserving death for just Kryptonian fascists.

This, or Batman most definitely leaving goons of villains half dead and likely paralyzed, when they joined the villain out of economic desperation. Honestly it’s worse than killing them.
