I feel like this is a mischaracterization of what the Merck manual is saying. It (www.merckmanuals.com/professional...) cites this paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32663356/ from 2020, pre-vaccines, that is only looking at acute COVID-19 infection, not long-term consequences.

Immunodeficiency is not a common outcome of COVID-19. More recent studies have shown that generally speaking, T cells rebound and have healthy outcomes post-infection. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1... www.cell.com/cell-reports...

Maybe take it up with Merck or the author David C. Dale, MD, because the date on the article reads: Reviewed/Revised Apr 2023 I think the info about how Covid causes lymphocytopenia is the pertinent takeaway. I’m no scientist, I’m just trying to help people not get disabled by Covid.
