The best way to stop a weekend of gun violence is to build more housing security, food security, public education, healthcare, & job programs 20 years ago. The second best way is to build more of those civic programs today.

If they keep impoverished people, especially Black people, scrambling to keep themselves and children fed... then those people have to take what low wage jobs they can, be practically indentured in their work and have little time and energy to organize against them The cruelty IS the point.

Ugh. Yeah my place charges $2.49 … so I guess over the course of a year it’s the same cost or a little more than a box of checks, but then I have to factor in the drive across town to drop off said check. So I’ll keep paying the fee. 😞
