I famously "don't write about that anymore" (I was badly paid to write abt Israel/Palestine for ~25 yrs; now I post abt it for free on social media; #lolsob) but I am just one (1) of many, many reporters/writers/klaxon-sounders who have been screaming into the void about this very fact for decades.
NYT June 1941:
"Breaking News: An influential German official says in a taped speech that Operation Barbarossa is a stealthy attempt to assert control of USSR"
It's stealthy the way my cats behave ostentatiously normally when they are doing something they know perfectly well they aren't supposed to do, like stealing food off people's plates.
I'm really struck by how much more openly these controversies are discussed in Israel than in the US. Yes, I realize this is being covered in the NYT but it doesn't seem to bubble up in to the general public, political discussion. Israel = Good is the unflappable message at the end of the day
STEALTHY?!? do theh think we didn't know this was about real estate?!? did they think we thought the genocide was ut and they'd go back to the border?!?
