And it wasn't a case of us saying "it's comics and therefor they didn't have to be good"--it was more "it's comics so we can do anything we want to do! We're not confined by reality! We don't have to obey the rules!"

I remember an interview, I forget who it was, maybe Romita Jr., maybe McFarlane? They were saying they got brought into the Raimi movie to ask how the swinging was meant to work because he should just splat into walls and the answer was along the lines of "Dunno, we just do whatever looks cool".
