Might be good to have a handy dandy term like say 'utility cycling' to elbow out vehicular cycling for everyone who needs to negotiate six lane stroads to connect otherwise safer routes. Genuinely connected bike routes are a difficult concept even in otherwise good on infrastructure cities.

The thing that always cracks me up about the Mad Max fantasy universe is that the things that would really have value in the post apocalyptic world would be clean water & bicycles. Gasoline becomes useless in a year or so. Make a movie about shooting it out over bike tires.
