In exactly one week, I will be stress not-sleeping the night before my first day at a new job (for the first time in 12+ years). Pretty sure my brain is already practicing for this feat. 😵💫

Oh wow! I’ve got a ton of it in the house for the kids, it was the only stick kind we could get. I should try it next time I go out in the sun. (Which will not be for days, even this heat is aggravating my skin ugh).

It’s the generic version of Atarax, whatever that is. Sometimes I get really bad itchy skin in the winter and it helps take the edge off, too. I can only take it at bedtime, it knocks me out. (An added benefit, as my anxiety is worst at bedtime and I sleep like shit from aging and stress lately).

I’ve never heard of this or a hot spoon either! I used to get HUGE welts from mosquito bites. Now only occasionally, but often they’re small and intensely itchy for at least a week. Hm….

No, I haven’t tried them yet! I’ve always used the Neutrogena 70 stick, although I couldn’t replace them last year so maybe it was expired?

Ugh, I’m sorry. It’s like, sunburn is bad enough. Now make that painful spot itch so bad you scratch it in your sleep… 😵💫

My anxiety medicine is actually an antihistamine, so I definitely used it the first night. I don’t like taking it twice in a row so I suffered with topical last night.

Oh yes. I’ve been marred by them before. Imagine the combination of sunburn, sun rash, AND allergic contact rash. All at once. That was my childhood visiting my grandparents in Florida every year. I’m so pale I get burnt through the sunblock.

Also, I’m sorry you have it too, but it’s kinda validating to see someone else is allergic to the sun like me. I’ve never met anyone else who gets this.

Also, she still has a huge audience, she’s just not *literally* everywhere. And probably has a bit better of a work/life balance for it, too. 🤷♀️

if you like someone's reporting, or like an article they wrote, writing them to tell them so will probably make them weep with joy. they will print it or save it in a special desktop folder. it may even keep them from quitting. that's how rare it is. so if you like the job someone did, pls tell them

He spelled our neighborhood’s school wrong three times in a mailer that talked about the importance of neighborhoods. 🙄

I was very impressed with Tenley’s outreach. She came to my neighborhood and chatted a bit at my door. I appreciated the direct contact!

So, I’m a little confused as to what happens if we leave one blank. Isn’t it better to pick the lesser of the evils you don’t want than to not pick at all and have the worst option end up third?

Amber enjoyed the beautiful weather this week before the heat dome sets in and we all bake for three months in swampy DC…

Yikes. I mean, I had some strong feelings about not voting for Levine - I think it was when he was trying to run for both offices at the same time? - but that is definitely a personal grudge of some sort that maybe should be kept private? Endorsing positively is enough.

I remember that phase. I was so excited! And then we moved to South Arlington…

When I first moved to Del Ray (Commonwealth Crossing!) in 2006, I thought the little pool was SO COOL and thought man, someday when I settle down in this neighborhood I could see myself bringing a family here. 🤷♀️

Don’t hold your breath. The pool at Commonwealth/Mt. Vernon has been closed for well over 15 years and they haven’t even gotten to filling it in yet, let alone any of the new park updates they’ve been kicking around for a dozen years. 🙄

Is there anything more delightful than an account dedicated to an elderly pup in Japan with adorably short legs?

One day my two asked if they’d ever have another brother or sister. I looked at them - both of who me had been running around the house scream-singing wildly and said “would you really want another loud kid in this house?” The answer, dear readers, was a swift no. 🤣 (they are still so damn loud.)
