Ever get to bed time & think 'what did I even finish today?' (me every day) So I made a Shortcut to gen a weekly log in Apple Notes for me & another to grab all my completed Apple Reminders for the day (skipping my "dailies" that repeat). A click to run, a paste, & voilĆ I have a sense of progress.

I added millimeter wave sensors to most of our rooms which made our automated light switches much more useful (set to auto off after no occupancy, though I had to set up a delay timer via homebridge to make it really work properly)

Pretty sure the best "just the basics, doesn't distract" smart phone replacement I've used is my Apple Watch Ultra 2. I get phone calls & can do the basics. No hyper gamified apps clamoring for attention, and my family can reach me on chat or calls. I leave my phone behind regularly now.

One of the first 5 Choose Your Own Adventure books from the 80's, The Mystery of Chimney Rock really spooked me as a kid in the absolute best way. I still think about it as a sort of "horror benchmark" for the right kind of scary vibe.

I loved iRobot as a kid but the idea that a robot wouldn't be programmed by code but would instead be negotiated with through natural language and "robot psychology" seemed like 1950s scifi missing the mark to my 1980s computer nerd sensibilities. Machines hallucinating? Daydreaming? inconceivable

My last post on #iPad was a critique but now for some praise: It has truly transformed the way my daughter takes notes and studies (below: IB Bio exams). She can search her handwritten notes, make flash cards, add images. They never get lost and they are all always with her (using Goodnotes).

What creatives REALLY need is for you to innovate on your software. Use all that power in the iPad besides just "it's a big phone".
