Microsoft says they are making a bunch of changes to Recall to mitigate the many, many security and privacy problems that researchers have found over the last week: www.theverge.com/2024/6/7/241...

it's such a horrendous failure by everyone at Microsoft that it even got announced with the data being in a plain text database that shows regardless of what management say the company still hasn't changed .

What MSFT demonstrated is that privacy and security is still not part of their decision-making process. Fixing obvious issues after the announcement is not going to change that impression nor will it fix this broken culture at MSFT.

Aka they're just gonna delay the implementation of these features and add them quietly in the future while pretending they care about our feedback.

Still after the fact & in response to almost universal public criticism.
Microsoft's approach to security is still a joke.

Are Microsoft changes going to be enough? We will check when they roll them out. But the important lesson here is that public security research made a difference here.

It's amazing they even suggested running Recall without these security measures. This failure somehow got past everyone in Microsoft.

I'm happy people are pushing MS... but starting a cloud/AI product from the "wildly insecure" footing and trying to lock things down after is a recipe for disaster.
