Now listening to abstract experimental electronic music by German audiovisual artist Alva Noto. Interesting to learn from this review that the three albums in this series were composed as ballets. It’s immersive and minimalist in a way you can get lost in.

The song “Magpie to the Morning” by Neko Case has a line that says “don’t let this fading summer pass you by” that comes into my head often. It’s also a really languid song, and seems right for laying in the shade somewhere.

So good to know that D.C. punk is alive, well, and extra girly. New album by Bacchae is noisy punk rock that could have been made in the 80s, but also sounds very now. Title track, “Next Time,” is a favorite. #newmusic

Now listening to new experimental hip hop from the innovative Compton producer Channel Tres. It’s hard to pin to a genre. From industrial house to nu-disco with a lot in between. Intriguingly sinister.
