It’s true that Israel has lately been a lot less cagey about their “alleged” nuclear weapons than they have been, including elected officials suggesting they be used on Gaza.
Again, this is a rather relevant factor if you’re discussing why the rest of the world is approaching Israel the way it is.
I know I heard about this some time ago, but I had forgotten that Israel had nuclear weapons. It kind of creeps me out since I watched the apocalyptic movie "Threads" for the first time yesterday. Nobody wins when it comes to nuclear weapons being used.
It's may sound very strange, but most Israelis don't think of Israel as a nuclear state. You're not allowed to explicitly say in Israeli media that Israel has military nuclear capabilities, so I'm pretty certain those who used the term meant it as a metaphor (for other genocidal means).
My suspicion is that not only they do have them, but the US has been supplying them, in violation of the NPT. That revelation would effectively blow up the NPT and give Russia and China an excuse to openly arm their satellites. And that's what's Israel is using as leverage on Biden.
Ok. I’m really surprised people are surprised. I thought everybody knew? Or, at least, everybody who claimed to be paying attention and has got their Certificate in Understanding the Israel/Palestine Conflict™️.
Well, that helps to explain some stuff I have seen On Here. Gosh.
My other realpolitik take on US aid to Israel is that we will keep shoveling aid to them no matter what, just like we have done to Egypt, because we're bribing them to keep the Suez Canal open.
IDK if this is right, but since the Ever Given I've had this notion.
