A harp without fx pedals is like… like a wolf without a foot! Professionally fascinated, musically curious. And neurosalty. Supportive of those who need it. Insert requisite flags & symbols here: ❌

Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH for that image. It will trouble all my waking hours of this miserable “Pit Season.” Now off to fill a big duffel bag with alum, and crawl inside until October…

My adoring cat is drooling thick ropes of mucus on my leg. Sweet, yet so gross! I know he missed me while I was away, so I’m loath to disturb him. But uuughhh!

While it may be somewhat remarkable, I hardly think it qualifies as “weird.” It would certainly be a useful trait!

I'm going to @readercon.bsky.social Thursday-Sunday and, for the first time, my book is going to be in the dealer room!*

Anybody going? Anybody want an absolutely wonderful vampire romance opera in Pushkin sonnets?

Possession is *intense*. I must say, it did change my understanding of Sam Neil, and his career.

It happens. I was coriandertomated only last week. But it happens to everyone, eventually. Right?

Putting in an early suggestion for Pontypool. No idea whether it’s available for free streaming, but it’s such a good movie.

England is like surrealism writ large. Do the other countries in the UK look on in puzzled consternation?

It’s Aimee Mann, and therefore impeccable.

I remember it well. I also used to tape TV shows that way, as well as the occasional movie.

When you do end up watching it, I will be interested in your reaction. (I’m probably the peculiar waterfowl for disliking that one.)

You and me both. Since my feed is mostly science nerdery, SFF writers, spacey music, and political angst, I guess I’m on the Outside Looking In.

Things I wish for you: That you always feel safe and warm, and that you will someday own a haunted castle on a forgotten shore. One that's filled with restless ghosts, indifferent cats, and secret libraries within libraries.

Colobopsis explodens use a strategy called autothysis (Greek for "self-sacrifice"), which only makes sense from a Darwinian perspective if the group being protected is very closely related, as in eusocial insects (the other example of autothysis is in eusocial termites, Globitermes sulphureus)

I used to say, “go home, Nature, you’re drunk.” But this time? I think hallucinogens are involved. Nature’s gotta be trippin’.

“… Gender Taliban…?” How does that even make any sense? No, wait, don’t tell me. I don’t even want to know her thought process.

Oh wait, Poseidon Adventure had that Morning After song, right? Wow, haven’t thought about that in an age. But at least that song made some lyrical sense! The Squirm song was just random.

Did those Irwin Allen disaster films have ballads? I have no memory of that. Maybe I was young enough to ignore them back then. By the 80s, such things made me grit my teeth.

Can you think of some? I’m curious now, as I don’t remember it being the case. But then, the 70s were longer ago than I care to realize, and me and my memory are getting old!

Stoner girl’s shorts with all the patches look like something from a high school production of Lil’ Abner. #horrorwatch
