I'll remember that. But just because St. Louis is "a big city", I presume that not every pizza is a "St. Louis-style pizza"; is there a way to make sure that, as a tourist, I don't accidentally order a pizza that I could get anywhere?

Right, but this means the pardon doesn't just happen automatically; they have to reach out for it. So spread that around.

Spread this around. The pardon isn't automatic; anyone with this dishonorable discharge needs to apply to get it removed.

I confess: we were so focused on the Evil Empire (and, to a lesser extent, the team @stephenking.bsky.social called "The Loathsome El Birdos"), we managed to miss what was happening to the other team that spent money to create a winner.

As a baseball fan, I might be interested in this book.

I'm sorry, and I can truly empathize (in general), but as a Red Sox fan, 2004 was pretty much the opposite of the "SEASON FROM HELL". And if you want to know who went thru Hell that season, talk to a Yankee fan about their unprecedented 3-0 choke.

When one party is inexcusable, the other party becomes "the only choice". That's why primaries are suddenly more important. (Yes, we should have viable political parties besides the duopoly; mathematically, that won't happen in our "first past the post" voting system.)

The reason why this film is so problematic (as opposed to just ignorable) is that Griffith advanced the art of cinema in many ways with the techniques he used to make it. Films "before" and "after" this show just how influential it was in the craft. But the message is insufferably vile.

I loved this show. Among other things, it introduced me to Gary Cole. "Some say the sheriff sold his soul to the Devil. Some say the Devil didn't have anything to offer the sheriff."

<yawn/> That's like saying that socialism as actually practiced is always a step away from fascism. Tell ya what: let's both stop this nonsense and get back to opposing actual fascism, which is becoming way too popular.

Share: did that! Enjoy: This reminded me of several films I should get off my duff and see sooner than later. Argument: This poll owes an apology to all films rated at or below the ranking of "It's a Wonderful Life".

Anheuser-Busch seems to have done the right thing when they bought Goose Island, the Chicago-based microbrewery. They took over distribution and marketing, but left the actual recipes and brewing up to the microbrewers.

I agree that NH Libertarians are the worst. The Idaho crowd ain't much better, and the Michigan Party seems to be drawing their ranks from Republicans who were too antisemitic for the GOP to keep. The "Big Tent" strategy totally backfired; actual libertarians have been squeezed out.

That sounds awesome, and I'm sure the writing is wonderful, so I blame the publisher for the fact that Miriam Leslie's name does not appear in the title, the subtitle, anywhere on the cover, and that I have to read a paragraph into the review to find out who she was.

I sadly believe you. I like Steve's writing, but I'll admit that his imagination tends to be firmly grounded in the rigid rules he grew up with. He does break free of them from time to time, famously when journalists wrote "Steven King and wife help charity".

Lennon's poetry (not lyrics; deliberate poetry) leans toward the nonsensical, in the style of Edward Lear or Lewis Carroll. I recommend the collection, "A Spaniard in the Works", which contains the absurd masterpiece, "And To His Faulty Bagnose".
