I do this when coworkers hem and haw about lunch.
“Where should we go?”
“Uhm…”
“Let’s go to McD!”
“Oh hell no!” and they immediately pick a place.

Immunity from prosecution if actions taken were part of official duties + (conservative-dominated) Supreme Court is arbiter of 'official'
= GOP Presidents get to be dictators; Democrat Presidents will be hamstrung

And of course, this power is intended solely for GOP Presidents, because they think they can also prevent a Democrat President getting elected again.
I want to see Biden win, then see the GOP attempt a take-backsie on executive power.

This ruling makes me wonder if the GOP:
a) Fully expects Trump to be reelected
b) Thinks a Democrat will never get elected again
Because I can't imagine the GOP being OK with a Democrat President to wield this level of immunity.
VOTE!

Someone quipped that given how few Cybertrucks have sold, if you see one in your town, then you know who the village idiot is.
Apparently, there are at least half a dozen village idiots where I live. 😑

The need of certain media companies to appear 'neutral and balanced' borders on pathological. Balanced journalism doesn't mean making both sides look equally good or bad. It means applying the principles of journalism to both sides equally. If one side lies more, it's OK to call them out on that.

That’s fair. You’re far more patient than I am. I believe in karma, but sometimes I feel like I have to get out of the car and push it to make it go faster.

Don't get me wrong, I really want these people to have an epiphany and hopefully make an effort to do better. And some do! But others will go to their grave completely unrepentant, which bugs me.

AI only regurgitate what they've been fed. And the orgs creating them are chasing big bucks, not aiming to create something neutral and wise.
Big Pharma could teach/train AI that drugs are good, and AIs would blithely write scripts instead of truly caring about the patient's wellbeing.

Seen this play out in real life, but reality didn't slap them hard enough. Their takeaway was "that other person is evil" and "I didn't do anything to deserve this." Completely oblivious. They could lose their job and home and live on the streets and still not realize that they deserve that karma.

I have issues with the legal system frequently, harshly, and unjustly incarcerating people.
I don't have issues with incarcerating people who truly deserve it, like this guy.

The conviction was just confirmation and affirmation of what we already knew.
I don’t know how one could support him less than “he’s not getting my vote,” so the ‘support him less’ grouping for Democrats baffles me.

Lots of English usage that is antiquated if you scrutinize it too hard. We know what a threshold is, but how many current households use thresh on their floors?

For decades, Linux fans wanted Linux to be the OS of choice on mainstream desktops.
Then Apple made Macs run on UNIX.
Now MacOS is the mainstream UNIX (plus derivatives) OS of choice, while Linux is largely relegated to the server closet.
That's why Linux users are salty as hell.

Some folks have suggested that ad-supported tiers may be more profitable than the more expensive no-ad tiers.
Problem: Unlike older broadcast TV, most streaming shows aren't designed around commercial breaks. Not only do we get ads, they often cut off dialogue mid-sentence!

How user testing is supposed to work: Users can’t figure something out? I need to understand why, then fix/improve the UI.
Open source: Users can’t figure something out? They must be stupid.

I'd use more open source software if:
- Their UIs weren't so terrible
- The open source proponents weren't so insufferable

Was only a few years ago that The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda were everyone's favorite. Now it's become cool and fashionable to trash talk Star Wars. Curious how and why things took such a sharp turn. Can't simply be a reaction to The Acolyte alone?

Feels like we’re in a never-ending ‘early access’ of a better future: Auto-correct messes up our typing; smart homes are still buggy; self-driving autos cause crashes rather than prevent them; so-called AI suggests glue on a pizza.

I wonder if there’s a penalty against putting a deceased in a boat and setting it on fire in the harbor, Viking style. Feels depressing that burial costs is just another facet of late-stage capitalism where we can’t afford to do the right and proper thing.

After a lawsuit from a driver driving with the woman he was having an affair with, many EU traffic cams blur the passenger side of the vehicle.
A UK driver with a right-hand drive car placed a Muppet in the passenger seat and blew past traffic cams.
