A few financial setbacks, unfortunately. Mostly, I can get through it, but those comments cut because I work so hard to make sure what he wants is here, he has dinner options, and there is plenty of meat (ick) even though he never helps with meals. Like walking through a minefield wearing snowshoes.

Nothing like being yelled at for buying all the food he wants but never eats only to be told that there is too much food here and it needs to be thrown away. And if I do throw the food away, he'll go looking for it later and yell at me for it not being here. Damned if you do...

I was upset for about 100 feet -- the walk from their office to the elevator. That place was so toxic, and my boss had been bullying me, and suddenly I was free. I never understood why CEOs just lied so openly like that. Look over this way if you need a gig -- many openings medical and other.

I hear you on the panic vs acclimate part. I was called to an emergency meeting with the provost and dean, no agenda, just "ASAP," years ago. They were eliminating my department, and I was the first to be let go. Probably the best thing that could have happened to me, looking back.

After some sorting, down to 10 bags excluding reusables and grocery ones: 3 duffels, 2 purses, 2 messengers, 2 backpacks, and 1 tote. I might swap the messengers for a briefcase and one of the packs for a smaller, city one. And no, I don't own luggage. #minimalism #decluttering #toomuchstuff

Corporate greed & clickbait revenue are terrible frameworks from which to inform oneself and pick a president. Interpretive dance would be more informative. The medium became old w/a message we're not trying to hear. It could just be a fancy way to distribute billionaire wish-lists now.

A matte blue might work -- something without a shine to it. We have a glossy green in a bedroom and it shows everything (teen girl picked it out). But other rooms are in a flat mustard and kind of a rust and the imperfections don't show at all.

Today's cooking adventure: sushi. Not vegan but thank goodness for nirile gloves (shellfish allergies, fun, fun). My hope is making this version first means the vegan ones will be a breeze.

Two wins yesterday: Vegan options at the ballpark and the home team. Primary choices were a vegan burger, vegan bratwurst with sriracha, and Indian curries. I had the vegan burger -- it was well seasoned, amazingly enough, but it wasn't cooked too well. Too dry. But at least there were options!

It had its pros and cons. Everything was ridiculously expensive -- rent, gas, groceries. Horrible traffic, drivers. Entitlement was pretty awful. But ocean, history (for the U.S. anyway), culture, educational opportunities, plus amazing nature just north in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

I forced my friends to join me on Signal. The best ones did. I've never used Messenger and I nuked WhatsApp the second FB announced buying it. I teach social media as part of my "day job" and learning so much about FB and its massive, unregulated overreach just makes me grumpy.

New York state outside the city has some interesting places, but they depend on your interests. And I agree those maps are disheartening (understatement). I use them as guides on where not to look for jobs. The state I am in is doing good things but that all could be wiped out next election.
