A "Bluesky for Law" starter pack! A first draft—please let me know who I'm forgetting. I tried to start with people who post regularly and mostly post about law, but of course it's both over-inclusive and under-inclusive go.bsky.app/GBtyP1g

Some of these flaws even went beyond exposing sealed documents — one enabled bad actors to initiate new criminal cases!
State and local court cybersecurity is not the sexiest of topics, but it's hugely consequential for regular people, and breaches are baddddd.

These vulnerabilities, discovered by security researcher Jason Parker (untaggable but here: bsky.app/profile/did:...) mean that potentially millions of sealed, confidential records could have been captured by identity thieves, extortionists, or foreign governments.

In Florida, California, and more than 48 other state and local jurisdictions, court system vulnerabilities exposed medical records from child abuse victims, body cam footage, and other sealed documents through unsecured websites.

We love Bluesky, but the Threads API is finally launched. We plan to bring the Big Cases bot to Threads, but have a number of other features and bugs we have to handle first. Honestly, it'll take us awhile to get it all done, so we'd love some help.

We're transcribing all of our oral argument audio so you can search for things said in court. We've been trying to do this for about eight years — Google even gave us free credits to do it! — but until recently the quality just wasn't good enough. OpenAI's API for this changes the game, hands down.

Nobody will care given...*gestures broadly,* but we also got a verdict today. In 2021 we and others were sued for putting legal records online. With pro bono support from GT Law, we fought to keep the records up. We won. They appealed. Today we won again! The records stay up!

What’s even worse is that the US Courts lost the class action case about PACER fees, and have to pay out $100M to class members. But, wait for it, they’re still charging the exact same rates!

- I'll include the date of the case, if it's more than a month old.
