You know you've been on the internet too long when you can't see a simple innocent company logo like this one without thinking awful thoughts.

To quote Frank Wilhoit: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

His book "Galactic Pot-Healer" predicted the boring and stupid ways we would use infinite computing power and communications ability. "The cliche is inexperienced."

It was an unfair fight. President Biden had to recall a huge amount of absolutely true and accurate information, where all Trump had to do was lie. He knew the moderators would never call him on it, and his fans don't care.

I don't do anything with color correction other than fixing the occasional camera that I didn't get a chance to white balance properly.

I just bought a new machine, and will be putting tons of RAM in it, as well as a nice fast 4TB SSD drive. I shoot eight camera concert videos, and have a project that I shot with a BMD Mini Extreme Pro ISO that I'll be learning on. Nothing that I shoot ends up on a movie screen, therefore no 4K.

I like what I see, although most of my editing is multi-camera. The color correction tools are powerful.

I totally stand by right not to watch some TV show because everybody else is watching it. I have not watched Game of Thrones, I have no desire to ever watch it I tuned in for one episode, watched a character played by a favorite actress be beaten to death at the whim of a psychopath. Screw that.

I've been waiting for the opportunity to share this: When he was young, Henry Rollins actually used to work at a Haagen-Dazs ice cream shop. "Do you want sprinkles on that?" "No." " YOU'RE A LIAR!"

I propose that the new guarantee of quality in a movie is the presence of Stephen Root. Seriously, look through the man's IMDb and you will be absolutely stunned when you see how many characters.

I'm not defending Musk, I'm defending the idea of not turning every orbital shell around the earth into shrapnel moving faster than the speed of sound as countries start blowing up each other's satellites. We have to track every loose bolt, and we can't turn space into the next war zone.

Personally, I believe he was asked to do it by the Pentagon, and agreed to it because everybody thought he was an a-hole anyway. In return, SpaceX/Starlink got a lucrative military communications contract. From Walter Isaacson's biography of Musk:

Not actually. I believe the Pentagon asked him to turn on the geofencing to avoid space being turned into a war zone. Ukraine (who I support) turned a civilian network product into a satellite controlled mine intended to take out most of Russia's naval forces. Much more complicated.

Also, while he may be destroying Twitter on behalf of the Saudis, there is public good in building satellite connectivity covering every part of the world, and cheap access to space. All Zuck does is pile money higher. Everything he does is about making money and locking down the internet.

Threads is the one that I will have nothing to do with, because, as evil as Musk may be, Zuck is 10 times worse. It's just that he has public relations people and listens to them, keeping the stench of brimstone to a manageable level.

Eventually, through a friend who had three extra tickets, we managed to upgrade to the sixth row! A good friend whom we hadn't seen in 20 years came from Bali for the concert, and wound up being a subject of the introduction to the best biography of Kate Bush, Graeme Thomson's "Under The Ivy."

It's been years, but the midtown Chicago Costco location (bizarrely called the Lincoln Park one, even though it's south of Diversey) actually served cheeseburgers. I haven't been back there since the start of the pandemic, which is also when they eliminated supreme pizza.

I think you confused your professors of defense against the dark arts. Kenneth Branagh played the useless one who stole people's memories. I believe you're thinking of Remus Lupine, a werewolf played by David Thewlis (the only competent one.)

I would think my fellow men would be capable of the minimal level of empathy necessary to imagine the exact same thing happening to their wife, girlfriend, mother, sister, aunt, cousin or female friend and whether they would consider that "rape."

It's all there in the business section of your local paper, being reported as good news. The most amusing one here in Kansas City was Bob Hamilton Plumbing/Heating/AC being bought out, then him taking the money and running for Kansas senator as Ultra-MAGA. Tarnished it so much they dropped his name.

I wonder if the owners of the New York Times might have been included in information contained in Jeffrey Epstein's safe? The one that was opened by the FBI, full of hard drives and CD discs, the contents of which they weren't able to get a warrant to obtain for several days.
