I agree with all of these but...
- Mask mandates can't be enforced nationally and the public has no appetite.
- Only useful if people will test. The Admin was handing out free tests and people didn't take them
- Requires congressional action
- Absolutely
- Already exists for most healthcare
- Also only useful if tests have a purpose. If I had to be tested because, let's say, my job had to have a policy of zero contamination (I work at food or healthcare) this would help.
Plus, A gov mandate for some environments to have policies such as these, would create demand for testing.
- Mask Mandates for ****certain environments****. Here in Brazil, a more civilized country, some municipalities still require citizens to use masks when entering healthcare facilities. This can be extended to other places when/if needed, like schools, public transportation, etc.
But what I meant by this is that in the absence of an effective vaccine that prevents transmission, no policies short of a prolonged shut down and a complete and permanent closure of the borders could stop the waves from coming every time it mutates (which unfortunately is often).
