I watched the live action with only a hazy memory of the original and basically came with a blank slate and saying "ok, tell me a story."; I enjoyed it on its own terms, as a crime noir action-comedy in a campy SciFi setting, as its own thing, original be damned. (and I love OG Cowboy Bebop)

While there were individual elements of Netflix's Bebop I appreciated, like the set designs, the soundtrack and Mustafa Shakir's spot-on portrayal of Jet Black I could not divorce the feeling that they completely failed at focusing the story around the class issues which were at the crux of the OG.
