I stand by the belief that "furry" is only as taboo as someone acts like it is. Being confident and unabashed about being "furry" goes a long way. Though do understand people being worried about their image. But gosh does sound exhausting. Nice can be themselves without worrying about qualifiers.

The question that really comes up in those cases when the insistence is so extreme is: "What do you think furry is?" Which "furry" is a term multifaceted and flexible and not NEARLY as strict as some assume.

I don't know why it bugs me so much when people need to explicitly insist they're not a "furry". Or maybe more if they're mad for being assumed to be a "furry". I mean I kinda know why it bugs me, but it be complicated feelings. Maybe the aura of "I'm not associated with THEM" that comes across.
