Oldham was entirely managing the Stones' image in the early days in a way we'd associate with boy bands: the marketing of them as the bad boy counterparts to the clean cut Beatles, emphasizing Jagger over Jones, firing Stewart because he didn't fit the image, &c.

I honestly don’t really believe it either, and frankly have no interest in defining a “boy band” one way or another, just an amusing thought.
